Jason Harris
Automotive Technology Program
Jason Harris is a senior at Longwood CSD and a second-year Automotive Technology student at Ward Tech. Jason found his inspiration for the field through his uncle, who worked in the industry. Growing up, Jason watched his uncle work on cars, which sparked his interest and motivated him to pursue a career in the automotive industry. He has earned his Multimeter Certification, allowing him to utilize a device to measure electric current. Additionally, Jason has obtained his NYS Vehicle Inspector’s License through a test administered by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
During the summer, Jason participated in the Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) program at Riverhead Toyota, where he currently continues to work and build upon his skills learned in the classroom. Upon completion of the program, Jason hopes to enroll in the Toyota T-TEN Automotive Service program at Suffolk Community College and continue to work his way up in the automotive field. If Jason could lend advice to a future student, he would encourage them to “take advantage of the opportunity to enroll in an Eastern Suffolk BOCES Academy program and to pay attention during lessons because if you don't, you'll be behind when you go to work in the industry.”
