Students attending Ms. Robrecht's Animal Science class visit The Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe
The students attending Ms. Robrecht's Animal Science 2 program visited the Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe located in Sayville where they discovered the opportunities available in the feline specific field. The students interacted with shop owner, Ryan Shea, where they learned about running an animal facility, caring for special needs cats and kittens, prioritizing the facilities safety, cleaning and biosecurity protocols, all while giving the cats and kittens some TLC!
The addition of the cat cafe has been great for the local community, as they have many individuals who volunteer their time whether to care for the animals or to socialize them. Since opening five years ago, the cat cafe has worked with various rescues and local shelters to adopt close to 1400 feline friends!
