Bixhorn Technician Center's Marine/Motorsport Program Receives Yamaha's Endorsement

Earlier this Spring, Bixhorn Tech's Marine/Motorsports Technology Program received special recognition from the Marine Division of Yamaha. In response to the need to find qualified marine technicians, Yamaha is working with technical schools to provide them with dealer level access to Yamaha's proprietary engine and parts manuals, diagnostic tools and specialized training in how to use them. We are one of just a handful of Technical High School programs affiliated with this program. Our students who are intrested in a career in the marine industry are given access to some of the latest technology to repair and maintain Yamaha's marine products. These students will also receive a Yamaha credential once they pass the competencies of the course.
We believe that this partnership will help make completers of this program highly marketable and employable by some of the area marinas and marine dealerships.

November 17, 2016, the students attending Mr. Pickerell's Marine/Motorsports Technology program were afforded the opportunity to tour Steiger Craft Boats, located in Bellport. Steiger Craft is a leading boat manufacturer and they graciously opened their doors for our students to tour their design and manufacturing facility. The staff explained the entire manufacturing process, from design and construction to testing needed before a boat is ready for sale. This experience was a great opportunity for our students to explore a career option in the Marine/Motorsports field. We would like to thank Steiger Craft Boats for sharing their expertise with our students.
