Student’s Work Highlighted at the Longhouse Reserve
Jack Murray, Eastport South Manor HS created this video with the help of Connor Thomas, Connetquot HS and Vincent Fasano, Connetquot HS. Jack was inspired by the serenity and intrigue of the Longhouse Reserve. His goal was to give viewers a sense of the Longhouse's beauty and tranquility even if they are unable to experience it first-hand.
NYS SkillsUSA 2018 Gold Medal Winning Video
Sarah Morge, from Patchogue Medford High School and teammate Natasha Fetkovich from Riverhead High School won the gold at the 2018 NYS SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference in Syracuse on April 27, 2018. The young women are students in the Television, Video & Digital Film Production program at the Bixhorn Technical Center of the Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology in Bellport, NY. Under the instruction of their teacher Mark Deedy, the class learns about all phases of television and film production in a one or two year program.
Working as a team, the students put together a 60 second news piece about the influence that social media has on the way we get our news. They beat out 15 teams from throughout New York State. With this win, Sarah and Natasha will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to represent New York State and compete against students from across the country in the SkillsUSA National Competition on June 26-29 2018.

Working as a team, the students were tasked with conceiving, filming, and editing a 3-5 minute short film in less than 24 hours. This years theme was ‘Cliffhanger’. They beat out 10 other teams from throughout New York State to earn the bronze.
